At EDUCAN we only think that a business is good if all the participants are better off. When benefits are gained at the expense of one of the parties involved, it is an abuse, speculation and cheating rather than a good business. We are not at all interested.
In the case of dog training and behavior management there are four different parties that ought to obtain a benefit:
The dog
Training or otherwise intervening on the behavior needs to improve the relationship between dogs and their owners, as well as the quality of their respective lives, in particular the dogs’. It is necessary to convey these guidelines for good practice to future dog trainers, and to provide them with useful tools to implement such foundational guidelines in real life situations. The improvement in quality of life experienced by dogs once they have been appropriately trained and their behavior problems faded away is our main raison d’être at EDUCAN.
The customer
It is neither a good business if customers do not obtain the product or service they were expecting. This would rather be a case of cheating or scam because the misguided professional has managed to sell products of a low quality or which are unnecessary by abusing customers’ good faith. EDUCAN has acquired the compromise that its customers should feel that they have been well advised, that their money was well invested and that professionals operating under our goodwill will never take advantage of customers’ relatively weaker situation and their lack of expert knowledge.
The corporation
In order to be viable companies must make profits what will in turn result in the payment of better wages and the offering of continuing education to their staff members, in the offer of higher quality services to their customers and in their survival in the marketplace. Those who create a company or work as a freelancer but refuse to consider the need to make benefits are not morally superior, they are simply bad professionals, amateurs who will end up giving up the chance to work where their heart is because of their dilettantish inability to make a living with it. EDUCAN reinvests its benefits mainly in R&D&I in order to continue improving.
The staff
Since poverty is the cancer of the social system, companies should refrain from doing anything that generates poverty or from taking advantage of it.
When a corporation abuses its staff to keep itself alive, paying miserable wages, taking advantage of people in precarious situations or exploiting the enthusiasm of the young to hire low cost workers, that firm is not making sound business but rather acting like a parasite. Parasites, ticks for instance, suck blood. Such unethical companies suck their benefits detracting them from their employees’ rights. At EDUCAN nobody works an inordinate amount of hours, for free or in exchange for starvation wages..
